Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending May 8, 2022.

Entertainment Tonight (2.2 live plus same day national rating, up 16% from the week before) was the Nielsen star among magazines in the session ending May 8. The sharp increase was enough to tie sister show Inside Edition (2.2, up 5%) for the category lead.

The only other magazine moving higher in households, Access Hollywood (0.8, up 14%), also lit up the chart with a 33% increase in the key W25-54 demo and jumped into sole possession of third place.

Dr. Phil (1.6, up 7%) and Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.6, up 7%) battled to a draw at the top of the talk shows for the third week in a row.

One of the biggest hits in daytime TV history, Ellen DeGeneres (1.0, up 11%) continued to shine in its 19th and final season with the strongest year to year growth in the top three (up 11% from the same week in 2021). The show, which has won more than 60 Emmy Awards, will air its final original episode on May 26.

Up-and-comer Tamron Hall (0.7, up 17%) was the only other double digit gainer in the genre.

The parting gift from Jeopardy (5.8, up 9%) contestant extraordinaire Mattea Roach, which was defeated May 6 after 23 consecutive wins, was a sixth straight first place finish among the games. Judge Judy (4.6, up 7%) continued to show the courtroom programs no mercy for a world record 1,337th consecutive week.
