Syndies slip in holiday week

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending June 6, 2021.

Most of syndication declined in the session ending June 6 – the week that began with Memorial Day.

One of the few big shows to avoid the downdraft was Family Feud (5.4 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, unchanged from the week before). “Feud” has dominated the game show category since the week beginning April 19.

Jeopardy (4.9, down 4%) — with guest host Mayim Bialik — lost ground. Wheel of Fortune (4.7, down 2%) also weakened.

In daytime No. 1 talker Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.7, steady) continued to roll up winning weeks. The show has now been first or tied for first in the category 13 times in the last 14 weeks.  Reruns of Dr Phil (1.5, down 6%) took second.

Other chat-fests in the top six were Maury (1.0, unchanged), Wendy Williams (0.9, down 10%), a heavily preempted Kelly Clarkson (0.8, down 11%) and Ellen DeGeneres (0.8, down 20%), which matched its all-time low.

Magazines were led by Inside Edition (new season low 2.0, down 9%).

Among off-net strips Big Bang Theory (new series low 2.2, down 8%) was still easily best on the sitcom scene.
