“Live” and “Dr. Phil” Torch Talkers

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending September 11, 2022.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (three-week high 1.5 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 7% from the week before) and Dr. Phil (seven-week high 1.5, up 7%) tied at the top of the talkers for a third straight week in the session that began with Labor Day and ended September 11.

Tamron Hall (4th season premiere 0.7, up 17%), Kelly Clarkson (0.7, down 13%) and Maury (0.7, up 17%) finished in a dead heat for third place.

Early national ratings for two new talkers, which did not premiere until September 12, will not be available until next week but both got strong sampling according to their first week of overnights. Jennifer Hudson (0.7/3 primary run weighted metered market average, up 27% from its year-ago time periods) had its best top 10 market showing in Boston on WCVB at 3pm, where its first place finish in the time period with a 1.4/7 was a 27% improvement over Ellen DeGeneres, the show it replaced.

Sherri (0.7/4 primary run average) scored its top 10 best 1.8/10 in Atlanta, up 13% over what Wendy Williams did in its time period last year.

Also premiering September 12 was new game show Pictionary (0.3 primary run average, up 50% from July 2022 time periods) which posted a 0.4/2 in top market New York, up 33% from the station’s most recent time period occupant The Good Dish.

Returning to the national ratings, Extra (0.6, up 20%) took the show to London for reports on the death of Queen Elizabeth II and was up the most among magazines.
