“Jennifer Hudson” Ties for Rookie Lead

“Jennifer Hudson” Ties for Rookie Lead

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending November 6, 2022.

New talk show entry Jennifer Hudson (0.7 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 17% from the week before) hit its highest rating since its September premiere in the session ending November 6. That created a tie at the top with fellow newcomer Sherri (0.7, unchanged) which had been the sole highest rated new show in syndication for the first seven weeks of the season.

Only a handful of shows were able to make any headway at all thanks, in part, to competition from the World Series on most days.

One of the few moving up was rookie game show Pictionary (four-week high 0.5, up 25%).

Also heating up, talk newcomer Karamo (0.3, steady) had its largest audience yet, growing 15% to 504,000 daily viewers.

The only veteran talker gaining ground was Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.6, up 7% in households and steady 0.6 in W25-54), which scared off all competitors with its annual Halloween show (new season high 1.8 single day rating, up 20% on October 31) and led the talkers for a 24th straight week (including eight ties).

Dr. Phil (1.3, down 7% in households, but up 25% to 0.5 in W25-54) secured second place. Kelly Clarkson (0.9, steady in households, and up 33% to 0.4 in W25-54 snared third.

Sitcoms were no laughing matter. Big Bang Theory (new series low 1.6, down 11%) and Last Man Standing (1.0, down 9%) were first and second, respectively, among off-net strips. Modern Family (0.7, down 13%) fell into a four-way tie for third in the category.
