Magid explores improving trust in local journalism with RTDNA

Bill Hague, Executive Vice President at Magid, explores the topic of improving trust in local journalism with two members of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) board of directors: Ellen Crooke, Senior Vice President of News at TEGNA, and Sean McLaughlin, Vice President of News at E.W. Scripps Company.

This conversation comes after the groundbreaking research project the RTDNA conducted with Magid on trust in local news sources – TV, radio, print – and the challenges local journalists are facing across the country in building trust with consumers.

Trust in local journalism has been eroding in recent years – this is not a new topic in the industry. But the study uncovered more about the why and even more importantly how local journalists can rebuild and retain trust, by identifying a pattern of behaviors and practices that most influence whether consumers believe what they see and hear.

Bill, Ellen and Sean discuss the study and resulting roadmap for news organizations to adopt and follow in order to maintain and win back trust in their communities.

Part II of this discussion will be shared in a new video to be released. Stay tuned.

For more information on the methodology used in the study, please watch the video below.
