“Jeopardy” Ties “Feud” for Game Show Win, “Tamron” Takes Off

After one week in the sun as the sole number one game show, Family Feud (7.2 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, down 3% from the week before) was joined at the top of the category by Jeopardy (7.2, up 1%) in the session ending April 19.

Wheel of Fortune (5.8, down 15%) was third.

The closely-watched talk show race went to Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.2, down 4%) for the fourth week in a row as usual leader Dr Phil (2.0, down 5%) again ran into pandemic preemptions.  Not far behind was Ellen DeGeneres (1.9, up 6%).

One of the very few double digit gainers in first-run was newcomer Tamron Hall (1.1, up 10%), which matched its series high and rose 25% in the key W25-54 demo despite being battered by COVID-19 news preemptions in the biggest markets. The popular Hall, who has been featuring fresh content from her home, packed in daily auds of well over 1.4-million viewers on average.

Judge Judy (6.4, up 2%) continued to preside over all daytime shows by a wide margin even though the strip was in repeats every day.  “Judy” also extended its winning streak among the courtrooms to 1,230 weeks.

Among magazines Extra (1.1, up 10%) was the only show in positive territory, moving up to tie TMZ (1.1, down 8%).  Compared to last year at this time, “Extra” also scored the biggest increase in the category, improving 10%.
