Dr Phil Streak Hits 100 Weeks

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending August 5th.

Dr. Phil (three-week high 2.7 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 4% from the week before) finished first in the talk show race for the 100thconsecutive week in the session ending August 5.

The milestone victory was achieved even though the powerhouse talker was in reruns on all five days.  For the 2017-18 season, Dr. Phil has towered over its talk rivals, averaging more than 4.5-million viewers each day.

The only chat show besides “Phil” to reach the 2-rating level for the week was Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.0, down 5%), which snared sole possession of second place in the category for the seventh straight frame.

 Ellen DeGeneres (1.6, up 7%) was a distant third, but the only top five talk show besides “Phil” moving up.

Also beating the midsummer rating doldrums was off-net true crime mainstay Dateline (six-week high 1.3 up 8%).

At the very top of the Nielsen chart Judge Judy (seven-week high 6.4, up 2%) was the number one show in syndication despite being entirely in repeats.

Hot Bench (2.1, up 5%), a courtroom program created by Judge Judy Sheindlin, was the third highest first-run show in daytime behind only “Judy” and “Phil.”
