Syndies Rally at Year-End as Schneider Winning Streak Sparks “Jeopardy”

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending January 2, 2022.

The week between Christmas and the New Year, which ended on January 2, 2022, saw several of the top shows in syndication surge.

Jeopardy (5.6 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 10% from the week before) led the pack. The show was buoyed by the amazing play of Amy Schneider — now the fourth highest earning contestant in the veteran quizzer’s long history — winning for the 23rd day and totaling $855,600 as 2021 came to an end. Schneider also had the distinction of becoming the first transgender contestant to qualify for the show’s Tournament of Champions.

Family Feud (5.4, up 6%) was a fast-closing second.

Judge Judy (4.9, up 7%) was the standout performer in daytime with fellow court show Hot Bench (1.5, up 7%) also moving up despite being in repeats on all five days.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.8, steady) was the No. 1 talk show for a second straight week. Dr. Phil (1.7, up 13%) made it close, taking second even though it aired only encore episodes for the frame.

The top magazine shows moving up were Entertainment Tonight (2.0, up 11%) and Access Hollywood (0.8, up 14%). Of note, Extra (0.6, steady) erupted for 50% increase in the advertiser-coveted W25-54 demo.
