“Judge Judy” Tops Entire 2017-18 Syndication Season

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending August 12th.

Racing to an insurmountable lead with just two weeks yet to be counted in the 2017-18 season as of the session ending August 12, Judge Judy (full season to date 6.9 live plus same day household rating) will be the highest rated program in all of syndication for the fifth year in a row.

That represents the wildly popular court show’s second highest full season rating in four years.

In first-run syndication, “Judy” has been the top show in the household ratings for the past nine years.

For the current week, the session ending August 12,  Judge Judy (6.4) was entirely in reruns, but still grew 3% from last year and finished first among all shows.

On the talk front for the same week, Dr. Phil (2.7, steady) remained in command for the 101st straight frame, despite being in repeats on all five days.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.0, unchanged) snared sole possession of second place for an eighth consecutive week and rose 13% in the key W25-54 demo.

Ellen DeGeneres (1.5, down 6%) came in third.

The biggest upward movers in the group were true crime favorite Crime Watch Daily (0.9, up 13%), which also captured the category’s largest year to year improvement, surging 13%, and The Real (0.6, up 20%).
