“Judge Judy” Makes Strong Ratings Argument

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending August 21, 2022.

Judge Judy (10-week high 4.5 live plus same day national Nielsen, up 7% from the week before) jumped to its biggest rating since early June in the session ending August 21. The strong showing put the daytime courtroom phenom near the top of the overall standings, well ahead of frequent syndie leader Jeopardy (new season low 4.1, down 7%) and behind only Family Feud (5.1, up 2%).

Judy has always laid down the law among court shows, finishing first in its category for a whopping 1,352 weeks in a row.

The week’s other big movers included Billy Bush’s iconic Extra (0.6, up 20%), which scored the strongest increase among magazines.

The closely-watched talk shows continued to be led by Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.5, up 7%) which set the pace in the yak pack for a 13th straight week (including five ties with Dr. Phil), despite airing mainly repackaged episodes.

Encore episodes of Drew Barrymore (0.5, up 25%) were up the most in the group and improved 25% from last year at this time.
