Entertainment Tonight Moves Mags Up
Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending January 8, 2023.
Entertainment Tonight (new season high 2.3 live plus same day national Nielsen, up 21% from the week before) lit up the ratings chart in an overall rousing session ending January 8. The country’s longest-running day and date entertainment magazine and genre leader clocked the category’s largest rating and biggest key demo increases (magazine best 0.8, up 33% among W25-54). ET was also the only strip on the entire syndication chart this week to hit a new household high for the season, scoring close to 4-million daily viewers on average.
The week’s other hot entertainment entities included: Access Hollywood (0.8, up 14%), TMZ (0.7, up 17%) and Extra (0.6, up 20%).
Dominating daytime was the legendary Judge Judy (seven-week high 4.4, up 5%), which has led the court shows for a remarkable 1,372 straight weeks.
Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.6, steady) remained the one to beat in talk, cementing itself in first place for the 33rd week in a row. Dr Phil (1.3, up 8%) moved up while maintaining the number two spot.
Syndication’s highest-rated and most successful new shows, Jennifer Hudson (0.6, steady) and Sherri (0.6, steady) both held their ground in a virtual dead heat for a third consecutive week. Both have already been renewed. Newcomer Karamo (0.4, steady) is also looking like a keeper.
