“Ellen DeGeneres” Delivers Higher Ratings as Last Dance Nears

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending October 31, 2021.

Ellen DeGeneres (1.0 live plus same day national Nielsen, up 11% from the week before) had the strongest household ratings growth of any top tier performer in the session ending October 31 while snaring an additional 149,000 daily viewers for an average audience of 1,472,000 and clocking its most-watched week of the year. In its 19th and final season, the daytime diva lit up the ratings chart with improvement of 150% over the past 13 weeks.

Of the 15 talk shows, only the two heavyweights — Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.7, steady) and Dr. Phil (1.7, steady) — finished ahead of Ellen.

Kelly Clarkson (0.9, steady) outperformed everything else.

Wendy Williams (0.8, unchanged), with a second week of guest-hosts subbing for the show’s namesake, was tied for fifth place by both Rachael Ray (0.8, up 14%) and Maury (0.8, up 14%).

Judge Judy (3-week high 4.7, up 2%) had a higher rating than all of the other six court shows added together.

Some shows in access time periods ran into preemptions due to the first three games of the World Series on Fox. Entertainment Tonight (2.1, up 5%) was the only magazine in the top six moving up. Jeopardy (5.5, down 2%) continued to lead the game shows.
