Top Daytime Shows Have Happy Holiday Week
Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending July 11, 2021.
Daytime syndication’s biggest players, led by courtroom champion Judge Judy (three-week high 5.0 live plus same day national Nielsen, up 6% from the week before), lit up the ratings chart in the holiday session ending July 11. “Judy,” which has been the dominant show in its category every week for the past 25 years, will leave first run next month for another venue.
All of the top three talkers also joined the ratings rally.
Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.7, up 6%) set the pace among talk shows for the ninth consecutive week. Dr Phil (1.5, up 7%) snared second place despite being in reruns on all five days while Wendy Williams (1.0, up 11%) captured third.
Conflict talker Maury (0.9, unchanged), sophomore Kelly Clarkson (0.8, steady) and veteran Ellen DeGeneres (0.8, down 11%) were next in line.
In more highly viewed access time periods, closely-followed Jeopardy (4.7, down 4%) had a ratings hemorrhage in the second weekly visit for guest host Dr Sanjay Gupta. The survey said that was no match for game show favorite Family Feud (5.6, up 4%).
