Magid First Look: “God of War” On PlayStation 4

The legendary Ghost of Sparta is coming out of retirement for the latest installation of Sony’s popular “God of War” franchise. Magid’s own Maurice Scarborough–Manager of Business Development and Research, along with a group of gaming insiders and members of the media, received an exclusive invite to preview the game’s first two-and-a-half hours before its April 20th, 2018 release date.

Kratos is back!

Created by Sony’s Santa Monica studios, the newest entry in the series trades out the Greek mythology of yesteryear and introduces audiences to the fascinating and equally captivating world of Norse mythology.

Much has changed for Kratos since audiences last played him in 2013’s “God of War: Ascension.” Draped in all new gear and now sporting a full beard, the former “God of War” has swapped his signature chained double blades for a magical Norse battle axe called the Leviathan Axe.

Few things in the game feel as satisfying as watching your enemies fall to their feet as you throw out and recall the Leviathan Axe. It puts Thor’s hammer to shame.

It’s not just Kratos’ appearance that has gotten a noticeable overhaul. The game’s visuals have received a powerful boost, thanks to the PlayStation 4, and are some of the most impressive graphics of this console generation. The game’s combat system has also received a nice upgrade, blending elements of the original series with modern mechanics found in many of today’s action-adventure titles.

Kratos’ attacks still carry the same weight and power of the previous games, and tearing apart hordes of undead monsters, giant trolls, and other mythical creatures has never felt more satisfying.

Add in the help from Kratos’ son Atreus, who assists you as a companion AI throughout the adventure, and a brand-new set of upgradeable weapons and moves, and you have the most dynamic combat system the series has seen to date.

“God of War” is a welcome return to form for one of PlayStation’s most successful and beloved franchises.

Long-term fans of the series and newcomers alike have much to look forward to when the game officially hits stores on April 20. This game is a must have for PS4 owners.
