Magid experts to speak on technology in multiple sessions at 2019 NAB Show

Magid’s Mike Bloxham, Zak Shaikh and Nicole Meighan to speak on ATSC 3.0, 5G, AI, and the implications of emerging tech on distribution, advertising and the industry at large

LOS ANGELES, March 18, 2019 – Magid experts will take the stage during three future-looking sessions as more than 100,000 media, entertainment and technology professionals congregate in Las Vegas for the annual NAB Show.

Additionally, local media practice leaders will host private client sessions throughout the show to introduce new original insights from Magid’s recently fielded proprietary research on the local media industry.

ATSC 3.0 v. 5G: The Council for Research Excellence Looks into the Future of Advertising

In December, the Council for Research Excellence, a consortium of media research leaders, brought together influencers across the media, marketing and technology sectors for a unique scenario planning event designed to help provide clarity regarding the business implications of the rollouts of ATSC 3.0 and 5G.  In this session, event participants will share their experiences from the event and highlight key takeaways from the final report, including important consumer adoption mileposts and challenges these new forms of video distribution create for audience measurement.

Zak Shaikh has worked with networks and studios for over a decade translating content and audience analysis into tangible insights for producers and creative teams to take action on. This ranges from programming strategy and pilot/series testing through to channel branding and content monetization pathways. He is part of the EmotionalDNA® team, helping to establish it as the leading content and research tool in the marketplace. Shaikh is also an established screenwriter, and member of the Writers Guild of America and BAFTA.

Riding the Road to ATSC 3.0

With deployments rolling out around the world, the advanced broadcast + broadband capabilities of ATSC 3.0 are catching the attention of broadcast equipment suppliers, broadcasters, and consumer device manufacturers. New research from the Phoenix deployment of Next-Gen Television shows that the new service delivering live, over-the-air TV could increase broadcast TV viewing and drive sales of new television receivers. Nicole Meighan will present research recently conducted by Magid in conjunction with the Phoenix Model Market project partners and the Pearl TV broadcast business group.
