“Live with Kelly and Ryan” Rings Up New Season High Ratings

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending December 26, 2021.

While much of syndication slipped in the week leading up to Christmas, Live with Kelly and Ryan (new season high 1.8 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 6% from the week before) celebrated its strongest numbers since last May. “Live” was also the only strip in all of syndication to hit a new season best in the session ending December 26.

Even with airing holiday encore episodes on December 23rd and 24th, the morning ratings juggernaut finished first or tied for first in talk for the 25th time in the past 33 weeks.

A mostly repeat week of Dr. Phil (1.5, down 12%) was second.

Sophomore Drew Barrymore (0.5, up 25% from last year at this time) scored the biggest year over year improvement of any talk show in the top ten.

Extra (season high 0.6, steady) was heavily preempted by NFL games but still became the sole traditional entertainment magazine to avoid any ratings downdraft.

Family Feud (5.1, down 6%) tied Jeopardy (5.1, down 11%) for game show superiority.
