Virtually none of the shows in first run syndication were able to gain ratings steam in the session ending April 10 thanks to successive major schedule disruptions for UEFA Champions League soccer and coverage of the events surrounding Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson’s final Senate confirmation.
For example, only one talk show in the top ten was able to beat its year-ago rating: Kelly Clarkson (0.9 live plus same day national Nielsen, up 13% from the same week last year). The soon-to-be-upgraded daytime hit also held 100% of its ratings week to week.
Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.6, down 11% from the week before) led the yak pack for a fifth straight week.
Dr. Phil (1.5, down 12%) did not get its primary run on the air in most of the top markets on several days, but snared second.
Further back, Wendy Williams (0.6, down 25%), guest-hosted by Leah Remini and Michelle Visage, fell to a new season low with encore episodes. Also tumbling to a new season low was Nick Cannon (0.3, down 25%), which is preparing to end its syndicated run.
Among access time periods programs, Jeopardy (5.5, down 2%) led the quiz and giveaway strips for a second week.
Refusing to decline, Extra (0.7, steady) was the only magazine to retain its season high despite the traditional post-Oscar week erosion.
