“Jeopardy” Ratings Rocket with Buck
The season’s final Jeopardy guest host, sportscaster Joe Buck, scored the show’s best Nielsens (13 week high 5.2 live plus same day national rating, up 16% from the week before) since the week of May 10, 2021.
Year to year the beleaguered game show was up 18% with Buck on board.
The only other top tier strip of any type to move up from week one year ago was Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.7, up 13% year to year and up 6% week to week), which has been the No. 1 talk show for 14 weeks in a row.
An all repeat week of Dr. Phil (1.4, up 8%) was the second highest talker.
Some shows that had been heavily preempted by NBC’s coverage of the Olympics staged dramatic rebounds. For example Kelly Clarkson (0.8, up 100%) and Access Hollywood (0.8, up 100%) both doubled their ratings coming out of the Games.
Other sharply higher entertainment magazines included Entertainment Tonight (11-week high 2.1, up 24%) and Extra (0.6, up 20%).
Of note Judge Judy (4.6, up 7%) was the top rated court show for the 1,299th week in a row or every week for the past 25 years. Despite being mostly in reruns “Judy” averaged more than 6,700,000 viewers each day.
