“Jeopardy” Hits New Season High

“Jeopardy” Hits New Season High

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending October 10, 2021.

In the session ending October 10, skyrocketing interest in the final full week of star contestant Matt Amodio’s winning streak sent Jeopardy (new season high 5.9 live plus same day national Nielsen, up 7% from the week before) to its biggest rating of the young season and its strongest showing since early March. Amodio was not unseated until October 11.

Daytime champion Judge Judy (new season high 4.8, up 2%) continued to serve as the courtroom leader for the 1,307th week in a row. Hot Bench (1.6, up 7%) was the second highest court strip.

Dr. Phil (1.8, steady) led the talk shows for a third straight week. Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.6, down 6%) was next, followed by Ellen DeGeneres (1.0, steady), which remained at its season high after a recent rapid rise of 43% over the past five weeks and a 150% leap in the past two months.

Kelly Clarkson (0.9, steady) was the most improved talker over last year in the top ten, growing 13%. Clarkson also had its best week of the season yet among total viewers, jumping 7% to a 1,351,000 daily average.

Access Hollywood (0.8) and Extra (0.6) were the only traditional entertainment magazines to avoid declines in the face of numerous preemptions for NFL football and competition with MLB baseball playoffs on cable.
