The consumer dilemma around ditching cable and cutting the cord

Nightly Business Report on PBS turned its attention to the world of streaming video, diving into the the erosion of the traditional TV bundle as consumers seek to self-curate according to their preferences.

The program highlights just how much consumers could be spending on streaming services and broadband internet on a monthly basis to starkly compare how much people are now prepared to pay to watch their favorite shows, movies and sports – often in addition to the monthly cable or satellite fees that most streaming households continue to pay.

“There’s both a plus side for the consumer in terms of choice, but there’s the other side of that coin, which is that choice creates dilemma,” says Magid’s Mike Bloxham, SVP, Global Media & Entertainment who was called upon for comment.

Television’s longest-running evening business news broadcast, the Nightly Business Report is produced by CNBC for public television.
