“Jeopardy” Syndie Lead Narrows

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending May 1, 2022.

Jeopardy (5.3 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, down 5% from the week before) was the syndication leader for a fifth straight week in the session ending May 1. Family Feud (5.2, up 2%) just missed, coming in a strong second.

The impressive Jeopardy winning streak of contestant Mattea Roach came to an end on Friday, May 6. Roach had won 23 games in a row, collecting almost $561,000 in winnings.

Wheel of Fortune (4.4, down 12%) finished third.

The top access magazines were also mostly lower due in part to coverage of the NFL Draft on April 28 and 29. Leaders Inside Edition (2.1, down 9%) and Entertainment Tonight (1.9, down 10%) lost some steam. Shrugging off preemptions Extra (0.6) was the only one of the seven magazines to hold 100% of its ratings both week to week and year to year.

Dr. Phil (1.5, down 6%) and Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.5, down 6%) remained in a dead heat for first place in talk. Kelly Clarkson (0.9, steady) moved up to third, tying Ellen DeGeneres (0.9, down 10%). Clarkson was also the sole major talker to improve in the key W25-54 demo, delivering a 33% increase despite being one of the shows penalized by preemptions for UEFA Champions League soccer coverage on April 26 and 27.
