“Kelly Clarkson” and “Tamron Hall” ratings rise

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending October 6.

Closely watched newcomers “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “Tamron Hall” both put the pedal to the metal in their fourth weeks on the air.

In the session ending October 6, Kelly Clarkson (1.3 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 8% from the week before) continued to be syndication’s No. 1 new show of any type by a wide margin, drawing close to 1.8-million viewers each day on average. In the coveted W25-54 demo, “Clarkson” improved 17% to a 0.7 and among all the established talkers “Clarkson’s” household ratings were behind only the super-successful “Ellen,” “Live” and “Dr Phil.”

Tamron Hall (1.0, up 11%) rose to its highest rating since its debut and shot up 33% among W25-54. In terms of viewers, “Tamron” saw its audience surge by nearly 200,000 each day to an average crowd of almost 1.3-million. Rival rookie gabfest Mel Robbins (0.3, unchanged) trailed the top two with slightly less than 450,000 viewers.

On the court show docket, strong ratings for Jerry Springer’s Judge Jerry (1.0, steady) held up and the daytime mainstay had no trouble presiding over the new gavelers. Personal Injury Court (0.4, down 20%) and Protection Court (0.3, unchanged) followed.

The freshman game show race featured a contest between 25 Words or Less (0.9, up 13%) and America Says (0.6, unchanged).

 Among the established programs, ratings champion Judge Judy (6.4, up 7%) blew away every other show on the chart for the 10^th week in a row.

Judge Judy Sheindlin’s creation Hot Bench (2.0, up 11%) was also a big gainer.

On the talk show circuit Dr Phil (2.3, steady) remained in command for the 161^st consecutive week.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.0, steady) was closest to the top, snaring talk’s silver medal for the 32^nd straight scrimmage.

In access time periods Entertainment Tonight (19–week high 2.7, up 4%) finished in a dead heat for the magazine lead with sister show Inside Edition (2.7, up 4%).
