Top Three Talkers Thrive

Top Three Talkers Thrive

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending July 24, 2022.

The three highest-rated talk shows were the only ones in the major 15-program category climbing into positive territory in the session ending July 24.

No originals were no problem for Dr. Phil (five-week high 1.5 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 7% from the week before) which continued to tie Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.5, up 7%) for a second week at the top of yak pack.

Kelly Clarkson (0.8, up 14%) also lit up the chart at No. 3 despite airing only encore episodes.

The sole magazines on the move were Inside Edition (2.1 up 5%) and Emmy winner Entertainment Tonight (1.9, up 6%). The behind-the-scenes magazine bombshell was that highly regarded but heavily preempted Extra (0.5, down 17%) will be losing its beloved leader, Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, next month. Lisa G., as she is fondly known in TV news circles, is America’s longest-running entertainment show exec producer. Extra veterans Theresa Coffino and Jeremy Spiegel will take over the show’s reigns.

Courtroom strips getting favorable Nielsen verdicts were Judge Judy (three-week high 4.4, up 2%) and number two gaveler Hot Bench (1.3, up 8%).

Family Feud (5.2, up 2%) was the game show champ. Jeopardy (5.1, unchanged) was a close second.
