‘Kelly Clarkson’ Clocks 44-Week High

‘Kelly Clarkson’ Clocks 44-Week High

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending December 4, 2022.

Kelly Clarkson (1.0 national Nielsen rating, up 11% from the week before) hit its highest note of the syndication year in the session ending December 4, as the only show on the entire ratings chart to set a new personal season record.

Although all of the morning and afternoon programs again had to compete against more than seven hours of World Cup coverage every day, the recently renewed Clarkson managed to climb to its best household rating in 44 weeks. The Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Emmy-winner averaged a season best 1.411-million daily viewers with a guest line-up that included A-listers Christina Applegate, Idina Menzel and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.5, unchanged) led the talk shows for the 28th consecutive week. Dr. Phil (1.4, up 27%) was a strong second. Following the aforementioned Kelly ClarksonTamron Hall (0.8, unchanged) was a solid fourth.

Elsewhere in daytime, Hot Bench (1.1, up 10%) was the sole court show moving up.

In access time periods, several shows recovered following steep falls in the previous preemption-heavy Thanksgiving holiday week. However, the only access program pacing ahead of last year at this time was top-rated entertainment magazine Entertainment Tonight (2.2, up 16%), which logged a 10% annual increase.
