Join Magid at AWARN’s News Thought Leader Roundtable

AWARN Alliance members* are invited to take part in an event that could shape the way local TV stations cover emergencies for years to come. AWARN’s News Thought Leader Roundtable will focus on the development of an emergency information framework that will describe the process and mechanics of alerting and informing using ATSC 3.0.

Moderated by Bill Hague, Executive Vice President, Media Strategy Group at Magid, the goal of the roundtable is to develop a voluntary playbook that will focus on practical concepts for using Next-Gen TV (ATSC 3.0) to reach new viewers in new ways – before, during, and after emergency events. Participants hope to develop modules that can be deployed for news and non-news stations. See the document for preliminary participation ground rules.

Register now to join your peers at one of the roundtables, the first on September 23 in Chicago. (A second roundtable will be at the Magid office in Sherman Oaks, California on October 8 – more information to come!)

News Technology Summit to follow the Roundtable
As an added benefit, the roundtable on September 23 is being held in conjunction with the annual News Technology Summit (September 24-25) at the Renaissance Chicago O’Hare Suites Hotel. The roundtable event is held on the afternoon before the Summit begins in the same venue.

The Summit limits attendance to qualified executives in TV news, news tech, operations, and related positions. If accepted by the Summit (AWARN has no role in their process), you will receive two free nights on September 23 and 24 at the Renaissance Chicago O’Hare Suites Hotel and access to the event’s group meals, cocktail hours, panels and keynotes.

Apply by September 2 for approval to attend the News Tech Summit to secure your complimentary hotel room.

Note: the AWARN Roundtable and the News Tech Summit are co-located for the convenience of attendees. You will need to register separately for each one – and you don’t need to attend one to attend the other.
