“Jeopardy” Jumps

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending October 9, 2022.

Jeopardy (5.2 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 4% from the week before) broke its prior week’s tie with Family Feud (4.8, down 4%) and took top game show and overall syndication honors in the session ending October 9.

Growing at the category’s fastest pace, was game show newcomer Pictionary, starring Jerry O’Connell, (0.5, up 25%) which equaled its season high.

Major League Baseball’s Wild Card round and Women’s International Soccer coverage caused numerous preemptions on October 7 and took a toll on the talkers.

Nevertheless, all three rookie talk shows managed to hold their ground with Sherri (0.7), Jennifer Hudson (0.6) and Karamo (0.3) hanging tough at their previous levels.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.5, down 6%) was the No. 1 talk show for the 20th week in a row, including ties, averaging more than 2.2-million daily viewers.

Dr. Phil (1.3, down 7%) took second place.

Also in the top three was Kelly Clarkson (0.9, steady), which mushroom 33% in the advertiser-coveted W25-54 age group to a new season high in the key demo.

Compared to the same week in 2021, Drew Barrymore (0.8, up 60% year over year in its new ½ hour format) saw the sharpest annual increase of any syndicated show.
