Game Shows Rule Syndication

Game Shows Rule Syndication

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending January 22, 2023.

Access game shows were the clear rating winners in the contest ending January 22nd, while the only daytime talk show heading north in households was the third most-watched chatfest Kelly Clarkson (four-week high 1.0, up 11% from the week before with more than 1.4-million daily viewers).

Jeopardy (5.9, unchanged) dominated syndication for the 16th straight week. Wheel of Fortune (new season high 5.6, up 4%) was a powerful second, with Family Feud (5.1, up 2%) the best of the rest.

Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.7, steady) was the No. 1-rated gabfest for a 35th consecutive week. Dr. Phil (1.5, steady) stayed close.

Among the talk rookies, Sherri (0.7, down 13%) got some good news from Nielsen, which revised the show’s previous week’s rating upward to a new season high 0.8 (for the week ending January 15).

Jennifer Hudson (0.6, steady) had a heroic performance, coming within a tenth of the top spot even though its primary run was preempted in eight of the top ten markets January 16th — the Martin Luther King holiday — for coverage of NCAA basketball on Fox affiliates.

Karamo (0.4, steady) held its season high ratings mark for the fifth week in a row.
