“Feud” Joins “Jeopardy” Atop Games

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending July 17, 2022.

Family Feud (5.1 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 6% from the week before) and Jeopardy (5.1, up 4%) landed in a tie for game show leadership in the session ending July 17.

The talk show race also ended in a dead heat as repeat airings of Dr. Phil (1.4, up 8%) nailed previous leader Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.4, down 7%) and both shows shared first place with at least double the rating of anything else in Nielsen’s biggest first-run category.

Kelly Clarkson (0.7), Rachael Ray (0.7) and Maury (0.7) finished in a draw for third place.

In an extremely rare event, all seven magazines were exactly even with the week before. Year to year, however, only TMZ (0.7) and Extra (0.6) were able to hold 100% of their same week households compared to 2021 Nielsens.

The court show competition was no contest as Judge Judy (4.3, steady) more than tripled the household number of any of the other six nationally-rated gavelers and lorded over the legal field for a 1,347th consecutive week.
