“Family Feud” Scores as Summer Starts

Family Feud (5.0 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 2% from the week before) was the game show champion in the first week of summer, the session ending June 26. That edged usual leader Jeopardy (4.9, down 2%).

Meanwhile, programs airing on network affiliates in daytime were faced with an extremely challenging week as most were very heavily preempted by January 6th Committee hearings on June 21st and 23rd and extensive news reports on the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade on the 24th.

For example, the only daytime strip above a 1.0 rating able to break in to positive territory was courtroom star Hot Bench (1.3, up 8%), which tied mega-hit Dr. Phil.

Talk shows were topped by mostly repackaged episodes of Live with Kelly and Ryan (new season low 1.4, down 7%). Second place Dr. Phil (new season low 1.3, down 13%) was also in repeats.

Further down the list, both the out of production Ellen DeGeneres (new season low 0.6, down 25%) and Wendy Williams (new season low 0.5, down 17%) slipped into sixth and eighth places, respectively.
