“Dr. Phil” Tops Talk as “Judy” Cleans Up in Court

Review based on a national syndicated rating report for the week ending November 7, 2021.

Dr. Phil (four week high 1.8 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, up 6% from the week before) and Judge Judy (four week high 4.8, up 2%) were daytime syndication’s hottest shows in the session ending November 7.

Phil snared undisputed first place in talk honors after only sharing the title for the prior three weeks with Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.6, down 6%).

Judy, which has been the No. 1 courtroom for 1,311 consecutive weeks and is currently on the cover of People Magazine, tallied a higher rating than all of the other six legal shows added together and attracted an average daily audience well in excess of 7-million viewers.

Among other notable daytime shows Kelly Clarkson (0.9, steady) climbed into third place among talkers, preserving its season high despite being bumped for breaking news in some cities. That tied the heavily preempted Ellen DeGeneres (0.9, down 10%) and Wendy Williams (0.9, up 13%), which featured guest host Sherri Shepherd.

Although most of the talk category is down year-to-year, ClarksonWilliams and sophomore Drew Barrymore all retained 100% of their household ratings from the same week in 2020.  The only talker in the top 12 up from last year is Dr. Phil, which has improved 6%.

In access time periods, Jeopardy (5.6, up 2%) continued to lead game shows with Mayim Bialik at the podium.
