Magid is seeking a Senior Director, Analytics & Insights in the media and entertainment industry to join a growing data science team helping our clients understand, predict, optimize, decide and compete more rigorously, and better. The data science team within Global Media & Entertainment (GME) works with clients across the industry, using analytics to improve all functions of their businesses including product, content, customer acquisition and retention, and revenue development. We deliver insights, POVs, and new frameworks that equip our clients with the tools to win. The data science group collaborates across a greater GME organization of consultants, client strategists, and qualitative and quantitative research specialists, delivering holistic solutions leveraging our full range of expertise.

The best candidate for this role is an experienced advisor to media decision-makers and a compelling storyteller and presenter, combining excellent analytical skills and natural curiosity. A successful person in this role will be able to manage projects soup-to-nuts, communicate persuasively with internal leaders and senior clients, and will not hesitate to roll up her/his sleeves to dig into data to find valuable new business insight that can help our clients grow.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute custom research plans from start to finish, synthesizing primary, 1st party or third-party data to derive new insight and create new client tools.
  • Extract trends from data to develop actionable, evidence-based solutions to help Magid clients make better decisions and gain a competitive edge
  • Produce and present smart, concise, and punchy presentations that make an impact on clients and change how they do business
  • Deliver with independence on challenging problems with complexity and ambiguity
  • Contribute to an internal culture of rigor and data curiosity
  • Share insights to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication

 Qualifications

  • Demonstrated abilities managing projects, and delivering high quality work within a deadline environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in presentation development and the communication of complex results in a compelling way to nontechnical audiences
  • 8+ years working as a Quantitative Analyst and/or performing advanced analytics in a business environment
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Expert level knowledge in statistics and sophisticated user of statistical tools
  • Experience in designing and executing quantitative primary research techniques, designing surveys, plus proficiency in SPSS, Qualtrics, Decipher, DisplayR or another survey analytics platform
  • Broad knowledge of ML methods, statistical analysis, and problem-solving skills. Experience in as many of the following areas: causal inferencing, multi-variate testing & design, segmentation, descriptive analytics, unstructured text analysis, and regression analysis
  • Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning models. Ability to develop experimental and analytical plans for data modeling, use effective baselines, and accurately determine cause-and-effect relations
