Magid is seeking a data scientist to join a growing data science team helping our clients understand, predict, optimize, decide and compete more rigorously, and better. The data science team within Global Media & Entertainment works with clients across the industry, using analytics to improve all functions of their businesses including product, content, customer acquisition and retention, and revenue development. We deliver insights, POVs, and new frameworks that equip our clients with the tools to win. The data science group collaborates across a greater GME organization of consultants and qualitative and quantitative research specialists, delivering holistic solutions leveraging our full range of expertise.

The best candidate for this role combines excellent data and problem-solving skills, natural curiosity, and a passion for the entertainment and media industry. Our work environment is fast-paced, and a successful person in this role will be a strong multitasker who manages timelines well and who is productive without moment-to-moment supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a member of a data science team using data to identify new ways to help media, entertainment, and gaming brands to gain a competitive edge and grow
  • Manage some data science projects from beginning to end and collaborate on others with data science peers
  • Deliver with independence on challenging problems with complexity and ambiguity
  • Write code (Python, R, Scala, SQL, etc.) to obtain, manipulate, and analyze data
  • Build Machine Learning and statistical models to solve specific business problems
  • Contribute to a culture of rigor and data curiosity
  • Share insights to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication

Qualifications

  • 3+ years working as a Data Scientist in a business environment
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Expert level knowledge in statistics and sophisticated user of statistical tools.
  • Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large data sets (hundreds of millions/billions of rows)
  • 4+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
  • Broad knowledge of ML methods, statistical analysis, and problem-solving skills. Experience in as many of the following areas: causal inferencing, multi-variate testing & design, segmentation, descriptive analytics, unstructured text analysis, and regression analysis
  • Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning models. Ability to develop experimental and analytical plans for data modeling, use effective baselines, and accurately determine cause-and-effect relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advocate technical solutions in simple language for non-science audiences
